Project Scope

The Greene Residence Outdoor Living Area project started as a need to provide a weather cover for a large existing patio at the rear of the existing house, with a commanding view of Lake Norman. The Owners wanted to be able to use this area three or more seasons of the year. We designed a “timber frame” roof with exposed structural trusses, a t&g decking ceiling, new flagstone floors, a built in wood or gas fireplace, and a step down outdoor kitchen with sink, refrigerator, grill and bar seating. The exterior is clad with veneer stone and has custom aluminum powder coated railings.

We also vaulted the existing living room ceilings and added clerestory windows in the newly constructed gable to bring more light into the living room, and to offer lake views from the second floor mezzanine. Other improvements included new exterior mahogany doors and windows, a new steel Castle entry door, new front entry porch, and custom wood shutters.
