Project: Verheecke

Project Scope

We designed a cohesive blend of the Owners' desires and conservative, simple, yet functional lines. The project was broken down into the following areas:

  • Kitchen
    • The kitchen has solid flush maple doors and drawers with flush appliance panels, two level countertop (higher level at sink), and Silestone countertops with glass tile backsplash.
  • Hutch area (dining room)
    • The dining hutch matches the kitchen, but with lighted aluminum framed upper cabinet doors.
  • Guest Bath
    • The guest bath has a floating cabinet with vessel sink and wall mounted faucet; new tile floors and marble counter and backsplash.
  • Master Bath
    • The master bath has new vanity cabinet, new linen cabinet, new stone tile, and marble countertops.
  • Living Room/Entertainment Center/Fireplace
    • The entertainment area in the living room has cabinetry that matches that in kitchen, custom storage of CDs and Video equipment, a slide out work center for laptop computer, a built in flat screen TV with built in speakers and integrated fireplace with marble flush hearth.
  • General
    • In general all ceiling were made smooth (previously "popcorn"), all new beech flooring in living areas, new Lutron control switches and outlets, new flush maple doors, new recessed lighting. When the drywall was restored to smooth, we installed a sound barrier in the main ceiling for noise abatement from the condominium unit above.

Problems & Challenges

Working on the project with the Owners living in the house, logistics of working in a condominium project with limited parking and nosy neighbors.

Relationship to existing home & neighborhood

We remodeled most of the main level of the condominium.

Homeowner Objectives & Needs

The Homeowner purchased the condo approximately 20 years ago, when new. The unit had "builder standard" kitchen, baths, flooring, ceilings, etc., and the Owner desired a complete cosmetic and functional upgrade.

Overall Results

The condominium has been transformed to a contemporary, functional space, with new flooring, bathrooms, kitchen, entertainment center, lighting and interior doors and trim, which much better reflect the Owner's taste and lifestyle.
